FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: CLERK OF THE LEGISLATURE APPOINTED

FONDA--Chairman of the Montgomery County Legislature, Robert Purtell, announced
the appointment of Amsterdam resident, Patricia Beck to serve as the Montgomery
County Clerk of the Legislature. Beck’s appointment fills the vacancy left following the
retirement of former clerk Cheryl Reese.

Chairman Purtell commented on Beck’s appointment saying, “I have full confidence in
Pat’s capabilities to serve as Clerk to the Legislature. Her extensive background brings a
wealth of knowledge and expertise to this position, that will enhance our commitment to
serve the residents of Montgomery County."

A search committee was selected from the full board of Legislators, initiating the hiring
process, with assistance from the County Personnel Office. Applications were reviewed
and the committee presented its’ recommendation to the Board of Legislators. Final
interviews were conducted by the full board.

Referencing the appointment of Beck, District 7 County Legislator Michael Pepe stated
“I am looking forward to having her serve in this role. She has a proven track record of
significant accomplishments not only her professional work but involvement in public
service.”

As the Clerk of the County Legislature, Beck will play a crucial role in facilitating the
legislative process, maintain accurate records in compliance with state regulations,
ensuring transparency and accessibility for the residents of Montgomery County. This
position works closely with all county legislators, government officials and the public to
uphold the highest standards of efficiency, integrity, and accountability.

Beck who most recently served as Director of Labor & Management at the county
expressed her appreciation for the appointment,” I am looking forward to working with
this esteemed body of our county government.”
