Coalition of Willing Plans First Joint Military Drill in Poland

(MENAFN) The Coalition of the Willing is preparing to conduct its first major joint military exercise in Poland next week, the UK Ministry of Defense announced Tuesday.

The informal alliance brings together countries that have committed to providing Ukraine with military, economic and diplomatic assistance.

Named Koalicja, the exercise is scheduled to take place from Nov. 9 to 22, bringing together approximately 2,800 personnel from 11 countries.

France and the United Kingdom will jointly lead the drills, with Belgium, Estonia, Germany, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Sweden and Türkiye also taking part.

The exercise will assess command arrangements and logistical procedures for moving, protecting and supplying military personnel and equipment intended to support Ukraine after hostilities come to an end.

It will also evaluate cooperation among members of the Multinational Force for Ukraine (MNF-U), the military arm of the Coalition of the Willing.

According to the UK Defense Ministry, the multinational force would enter Ukraine only after the fighting has stopped and following a request from Kyiv. Its mission would not include peacekeeping operations or monitoring a ceasefire.

Separately, Turkish military personnel will carry out maritime drills in Istanbul to test mine-clearance arrangements aimed at enabling commercial vessels to safely resume access to Ukrainian ports.
